It Was Tenty Years Ago Today

Has it been a decade* already? The calendar says it has. The 19th of August, 2005, in the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle, Washington, I had the honor of receiving the Writers of the Future Award from none other than Frederick Pohl and Jerry Pournelle.

Since most of the good things that happened in my writing life since have flowed—directly or indirectly—from winning that award, I think it’s only proper to commemorate the occasion today**.

Happy birthday, hideous trophy!

* Okay, a decade and a week, but who’s counting? I am, obviously. But apparently, I wasn’t a week ago, on the 19th, the day it really was exactly ten years ago.

** Though a week ago would have been way more appropriate.
