Free Books for Good Ears

Oh goodie!

A year after Paul Evanby’s debut novel De Scrypturist, Mynx finally published the sequel, Evanby’s new novel De Vloedvormer (which roughly translates at The Floodformer, I suppose). If you have read my rave review of his debut, it will come as no surprise that I’m chomping at the bit to dive into this new volume of Het Levend Zwart (The Living Black), Evanby’s hugely imaginative and highly intelligent multilogy*.

Luckily for you, I have in my hands** extra copies of both De Scrypturist and De Vloedvormer, and mean to give them away for free. All you need to do*** to be on the receiving end of my generosity is identify the quote I used in my story Prisoner of war:

It all seemed so safe, and tranquil.”

The quote is listenable on the story’s page on my website. Do you know the source of the quote, and the owner of the voice speaking it? Let me know (in a private message, if you know how, or otherwise in a comment to this post, if you want to let the other contestants know your answer), and if you get both right, I’ll send you both books.****

* No idea how many volumes are planned, hence the awkward term.

** Well, not exactly in my hands, as that would make typing awkward.

*** Apart from knowing—or learning—the Dutch language in order to be able to make sense of the books.

**** No, if you get only one right, I will not send you one of the books.
